Who we are

This website is run by Special Operations Support Inc. (“SOS”, “we”, “us”), a humanitarian nonprofit based at 160 Taylor Street, Aberdeen, NC 28315. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect through this website and how we use it.

Information you send us through the contact form

When you use our contact form, we ask for your name, email address, an optional phone number, a subject and your message. We use this information only to read and respond to your message. Form submissions are delivered by email to info@sosmil.org.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. Our site may use a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work properly.

We use Metricool for website statistics, such as how many people visit and which pages are viewed most. We review this information as overall totals to improve the site; it is not tied to individual visitors. Metricool processes this data under the Metricool Privacy Policy.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking some cookies may stop parts of the site, like embedded feeds, from working.

Embedded social feeds and map

Some pages include content from other services:

Our News page can show our latest posts from X and Facebook.
Our Contact page shows a Google map of our location.

These embeds load only when you scroll to them. Once they load, the service that provides them may set cookies and collect information about your visit, such as your IP address and browser details, under its own privacy policy. If you’d rather not load them, you can visit our profiles directly or skip those sections.

Spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

To keep spam out of our inbox, the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. It checks signals from your browser and device to tell people apart from automated bots, usually without asking you to solve a puzzle. Cloudflare processes this information under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

These services help run parts of this website. Each handles data under its own privacy policy:

Metricool: website statistics (privacy policy)
Cloudflare Turnstile: spam protection on the contact form (privacy policy)
X: embedded posts on our News page (privacy policy)
Facebook (Meta): embedded posts on our News page (privacy policy)
Google Maps: the map on our Contact page (privacy policy)
Discord: a plain link to our Discord server. Nothing loads from Discord on this website; if you follow the link, Discord’s own privacy policy applies.

We only share the information you send us when it’s needed to respond to you, or when the law requires it. We keep messages only as long as we need them to respond and for our ordinary records.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing info@sosmil.org. This website is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top.
